Pricing and profit
A lot of owners are busy and broke at the same time. Usually that's a pricing problem. We'll work out what each job, product or hour really costs you, find your break-even point and set prices that cover your pay, your taxes and a profit.
What we'll work on
- Your true cost per job, product or hour (including your time)
- Your monthly break-even number in plain dollars
- Which services or products make money, and which ones don't
- How to raise prices without losing your best customers
- A simple monthly profit check you can do on your own
Common questions
How do I know if my prices are too low?
If you're busy all the time and still short on cash, or you can't pay yourself, your prices are probably too low. The break-even calculator on this site is a good first check.
Will I lose customers if I raise prices?
You might lose a few price shoppers, and that's often fine. Most owners who raise prices thoughtfully keep their best customers and work fewer hours for more money.
Do you help with markup and margin?
Yes. We'll make sure you know the difference, because mixing them up is one of the most common ways small businesses underprice.
